Year 5 Victorian Day

On Thursday 6th February, Year 5 had a Victorian school day. We had a lesson from a Victorian teacher – she was very strict! Girls and boys had to line up separately and we had to stand up when we spoke. We were shown all the punishments they had then, including the dunce cap, the finger stocks, the back board and worst of all, the cane. We did handwriting, spelling and maths, but they were boring and just chanting things out. We also designed and made our own peg dolls and played a range of Victorian playground games like skipping, hoop and stick, and the potato race. It was a great day, but we’re glad we don’t have to go to Victorian school every day!
