PSA (Parent Staff Association)
PSA at Banstead Junior Community School
Our school has a very active PSA team, made up by parent, carer and staff volunteers. Together we organise events to fundraise for the school, and to bring a little bit of additional fun for the students.
Things we fundraise for include learning programmes such as Twinkl, as well as teaching tools for the teachers and the classrooms.
We also fundraise for larger items when needed by the school. For example, this year we are directing most of our fundraising towards the purchase of a battery to store energy generated by the new solar panels on the school’s roof. This will help to lower energy bills for the school, which means that more of its funding can be spent on learning activities for the children.
Some of our most popular events from the last few years have been:
· Break the Rules day
· Smarties Challenge
· Film nights
· Disco
· Summer Fair
· Christmas Fair – our last one included a brilliant fireworks display and raised just under £4,000!
We are a really friendly team, and always welcome new volunteers and suggestions for activities. You don’t have to sign up for a formal PSA role if you don’t want to, but if you can spare a few hours to help prepare for our bigger events we’re always very grateful!
Meetings take place a few times a term, mostly in the early evenings.
We also have a WhatsApp group for our lovely PSA helpers team where we share event information, which is then passed to all classes at the school. If you’re interested in being part of the PSA or join the helpers’ group, please contact us PSA@bcjs.org.uk.
